Surfers Paradise emergency situation over

A man is in custody after threats were made from a Surfers Paradise apartment, prompting police to declare an emergency situation and cordon off the area.
The declaration was made under the Public Safety Preservation Act at 2.20am on Sunday, with people asked to avoid an area bounded by Elkhorn Avenue, Ferny Avenue, Surfers Paradise Boulevard and Cavil Avenue.
The emergency situation was revoked at 3.55am when a man in a Ferny Avenue unit was taken into custody.
