Man living in Brisbane home packed with explosive chemicals had been using 'stolen Navy ID'

A man who was living in the Pullenvale home found to have a stockpile of chemicals on-site had allegedly been using a Navy diver’s identity.

The man, who police say also has “considerable skill” with explosives, is believed to have stolen the identification in the mail, The Courier-Mail reports.

The diver is trained in the use of the volatile chemicals, potentially allowing the accused easier access to the explosive materials.

The man and a woman who lived at the house had fled Queensland last month, but the male was arrested interstate on unrelated matters.

The woman's location remains unknown.

Police have been conducting controlled explosions at the property on Red Cedar Rd after a real estate agent discovered the potentially dangerous items on Wednesday.

It is believed that each individual chemical does not pose a bomb threat, but a number of combinations of the items could be used to create explosives.

Queensland police stated they did not have any indications the chemicals were part of a terrorist plot.
