Man charged over Qld night of violence

A man has been charged with murder over the death of a man struck by a car during a night of violence in a far north Queensland community in Cape York.

The 43-year-old Aurukun man was charged over the death of the 30-year-old on Monday evening, two days after police cars were damaged and another vehicle was set alight during the disturbance on Saturday.

He is due before the Aurukun Magistrates Court on Tuesday and police say investigations continue.
