Man jumps for life from burning boat

A man has suffered severe burns after his sailing boat was engulfed by flames off the Gold Coast.

The alarm was raised after fire engulfed the 40-foot vessel on Sunday morning off the coast of Burleigh Heads.

News Corp reports the man was forced to jump overboard before he was plucked from the water.

A police spokesman said the man suffered serious burns and was brought to shore on a private vessel with a doctor on board.
