Man hospitalised after Cairns bashing

A 29-year-old man has horrific facial injuries after being savagely bashed by two men in far north Queensland.
Police say the perpetrators, aged 52 and 40, attacked the man on Shields St in Cairns about 3am on Wednesday, punching him unconscious and repeatedly striking him as he lay on on the ground.
He suffered a broken nose and suspected fractured eye socket, while two men have been charged with grievous bodily harm and will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on May 22.
