Man hits police officer during Queensland arrest

A police officer has been hit in the eye while trying to arrest a man who was refused entry to a nightspot in Mackay.
Police were called when the man began behaving aggressively when he was denied access to the venue about 1.30am (AEST) on Monday.
The injured officer was treated at the scene for bruising and swelling to his eye.

The 27-year-old South Mackay man will front court next month charged with assaulting police and creating a disturbance.
