Man hit with gun during Qld robbery

A man has been struck in the head with a handgun during a robbery in the north Queensland city of Townsville.

Police say two men approached the man and a woman at a sporting complex at Heatley Park at about 11.30pm on Saturday and demanded their car keys.

One of the men, armed with what appeared to be a handgun, then struck the man in the head while the other grabbed the woman's handbag before both men fled the scene on foot.

A 41-year-old man was treated at the scene for a laceration to his temple.
