Man guilty of strangling ibis in Brisbane

A man has been released immediately on parole after pleading guilty to strangling an ibis in Brisbane's CBD earlier this year.

Jeffrey Hanna, 31, of Murrarie, pleaded guilty in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday to one count of animal cruelty.

He was sentenced to three months' jail but released immediately on parole for the attack on the defenceless bird on George Street on January 21.
