A young Queensland man who sprayed two horses with a fire extinguisher has apologised after being fined for animal cruelty.

Giobi Sydney Geiger was in the passenger seat of a car in the Rockhampton CBD when he sprayed clydesdales Kenny and Bailey in January, as they walked by pulling a carriage.

The incident was caught on camera, and the horses had to be seen by a vet after the incident left them with nasal discharge.

Geiger was convicted of animal cruelty and fined $3000 when he faced Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Outside the court, he told the ABC he was remorseful: "I'm very sorry for everything that's happened. I really didn't want that to pan out like that."
