Man fighting for life after balcony fall

A 33-year-old man is fighting for life after falling from a first-floor balcony on the Gold Coast.

He has serious head injuries and has been put in an induced coma after arriving in a critical condition at the Gold Coast University Hospital after the fall at Coolangatta in the early hours of Monday.

The Queensland Ambulance Service's Gary Berkowitz said the man was "trying to catch an object that was being thrown to him" when he toppled to the ground below.
