Man falls 6m into tank at Gold Coast site

A man has suffered spinal and head injuries after falling about six metres into a water tank at a Gold Coast building site.

Paramedics were called to the Biggera Waters work site on Tuesday morning after the man, believed to be in his 30s, fell through a hole into the concrete tank.

Critical care paramedic Darrin Hatchman said it took about 40 minutes to safely get the man out of the tank.

He suffered minor head and lower back injuries and has been transferred to the Gold Coast Hospital in a stable condition.

It is not clear how the man fell through the hole but Mr Hatchman said the incident would be investigated by workplace health and safety authorities.
