Man due in court for Qld 'machete attack'

A man accused of slashing another man with a machete after an early morning argument is set to face court on the Gold Coast.

Police say the 38-year-old Surfers Paradise man got into a fight with a 26-year-old man after arguing with him and a woman in her 30s at a Ferny Avenue apartment around 2am on Monday.

As the situation escalated, it's alleged the older man slashed the 26-year-old with a machete, causing deep cuts to his leg and hand.

The 38-year-old has since been charged with offences including with acts intended to maim and common assault.

He is expected to face Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
