Qld man dies after crashing car into tree

A man has died after veering off a remote highway and hitting a tree in Queensland's Darling Downs.

The 36-year-old crashed on the outskirts of Dalby in the early hours of Monday morning and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Earlier, police confirmed a man critically injured in a north Queensland car crash last week had died in hospital.

The 22-year-old passenger was hurt on Wednesday when the car he was in lost control and crashed into a power pole in Bowen.

Another passenger escaped with minor injuries, while the driver of the vehicle fled on foot but has since been found.
