Man dead after motorbike hits pole

A man has died after crashing his motorbike into a pole at Atherton in far north Queensland.

Police said the crash occurred at about 10.45am on Sunday when the 34-year-old rider failed to negotiate a bend on Beantree Road.

Emergency services tried to revive him but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
