Man charged with arson in far north Qld

A man has been charged over a suspected arson attack on a far north Queensland property.

A house was extensively damaged after it went up in flames at Millaa Millaa, on the Atherton Tablelands, on Sunday morning.

A car in the yard was also burnt and damaged.

An 18-year-old man was taken into custody on Monday afternoon and charged with one count each of arson, wilful damage and possession of a dangerous drug.

He is due to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates court on Tuesday.
