Man charged over fatal Queensland crash yesterday

A man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death after he allegedly crashed into a woman's car as he tried to evade police at Hervey Bay in Queensland.

The 72-year-old woman died at the scene of the crash at Urangan at about midday yesterday.

The driver of the second car, a 21-year-old Urangan man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was discharged overnight.

He has been charged with one count each of dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop and driving a motor vehicle whilst disqualified.

He's due to appear in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court today.

Detectives and forensic crash specialists are investigating the crash.
