Man charged over Qld road rage attack

A man is in police custody following a violent road rage incident west of Brisbane.

It's alleged the 30-year-old North Booval man narrowly avoided a collision with a utility as it was pulling out of his driveway on Saturday afternoon.

Police say he then followed the ute to an intersection, where he got out of his car and approached the 66-year-old driver.

After a verbal altercation it's alleged the 30-year-old man punched the 66-year-old in the face several times before fleeing the scene.

The older man was taken to the Prince Charles Hospital with facial injuries while the 30-year-old was arrested and charged with serious assault of a person over the age of 60.

He was denied police bail and will appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.
