Man charged over Gold Coast shooting

Police have charged a man over a home invasion at a Gold Coast high-rise that ended with another man being shot in the stomach.

Matthew Allen Popp, 24, has been charged with enter dwelling with intent, demand property with menace and common assault over the August 21 incident at the Palm Avenue Hotel in Surfers Paradise.

Popp didn't appear at a brief mention at Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday, with the matter adjourned until September 3.

No application for bail has been made and Popp has been remanded in custody.

Police are still looking for another man seen on CCTV running from the room shortly after the attack.
