Man charged over Cairns knife incident

A man has been charged with attempted murder over an alleged knife attack in a Cairns home.

Police were called to a Gordonvale address about 2.30pm on Wednesday, after reports two men had been fighting.

One man, 23, remains in a serious condition at Cairns Hospital after suffering stab wounds to his abdomen, face, neck and back.

Another man, 20, was charged with attempted murder and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Both men live at Gordonvale, police say.
