Man bashed with hammer in remote Qld

A man has been charged with bashing another man in the head with a hammer in the remote Queensland community of Aurukun.

The 36-year-old victim has been flown from the Cape York community to Cairns, with serious, but not life threatening injuries.

Police allege he was attacked by another man, also 36, during a disturbance at a home on Thursday afternoon.

The alleged attacker has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed with an offensive instrument and is due to face court on Friday.
