Man charged over Gold Coast shootings

A Gold Coast man will face court charged over two alleged drive-by shootings.

Shots were fired near a Worongary home just before 8pm on Tuesday and then two hours later into a vehicle parked outside a home at Helensvale.

The Helensvale property, which was unoccupied, was broken into and a vehicle was stolen.

The 26-year-old Arundel man has been charged with several weapons offences including threatening violence by discharging a firearm and discharging a weapon in a public place.

He was also charged with possessing dangerous drugs, the unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two counts of wilful damage.

The man is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday.

A 28-year-old Helensvale woman was also charged with two counts of being an accessory after the fact and will appear at the same court on June 5.
