Logan is southeast Queensland's home robbery hotspot - but more than half the people who live there have no qualms about leaving their houses unattended.

The RACQ's 2015 home security index has revealed the Logan suburbs of Crestmead and Marsden are the worst suburbs for home theft, with 2.43 theft claims made per 100 policies held by the insurer in that postcode.

RACQ Executive Manager Mike Sopinski said even though the suburbs topped the home theft list for the second year running, those who lived there didn't seem too worried.

"Despite the high number of insurance claims in those suburbs, our research shows that more than half (53.9 per cent) of Logan residents say they're not worried about leaving their home unattended in case it gets robbed," he said.

Macgregor, Robertson, Sunnybank and Sunnybank Hills in Brisbane's south ranked as the second worst postcode for home robbery, with a claim rate of 2.02.

The survey also revealed 30.8 per cent of Queensland householders admitted to leaving their home unlocked.
