LNP won't rule out deal with One Nation

Queensland Opposition leader Tim Nicholls has refused to rule out forming a minority government with Pauline Hanson's One Nation after this year's state election.

The Liberal National Party is still reeling from the defection of its Buderim MP Steve Dickson to the minor party, ahead of an election tipped to be called later this year.

With political experts predicting the state is headed for another hung parliament, talk is turning to whether the LNP will form a minority government with the fringe party.

Mr Nicholls says he couldn't rule it in or out.

"We go into every election believing - and with the policies we think are going to win - and that's the aim of the LNP under my leadership," Mr Nicholls told reporters in Brisbane.

"I'm not ruling in or ruling out, I'm not going to get into that game because that's the game that people are sick and tired of."

Mr Nicholls said he hasn't had any talks with One Nation since Mr Dickson's defection on Friday.

He attended a meeting of the local branch of the LNP on Sunday to select a candidate to take on Mr Dickson in the electorate of Buderim at the next election.
