Labor wants to cut Qld ministers to save

Queensland Labor has promised to cut the size of state cabinet to save $27 million every three years if it's elected.

Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk says Labor will cut the number of ministers from the current 19 to 14 and assistant ministers down from 12 to one.

She says the single assistant minister will be assigned to north Queensland.

Ms Palaszscuk says all the savings, predicted to be about $27 million, will be redirected to bolstering frontline services.

Premier Campbell Newman said it was typical of Labor to be focusing on their own jobs, rather than those of Queenslanders.
