Katter MP to introduce sugar bill

Katter's Australian Party plans to introduce a new bill in Queensland's parliament to help the state's sugar industry.

MP Shane Knuth says the Sugar Industry (Real Choice in Marketing) Amendment Act 2015, to be introduced on Tuesday, will ensure cane growers have a choice in the marketing of their own products.

"This Bill addresses the imbalance in market power currently existing between mill owners and growers, and protects one of our largest, yet struggling industries," Mr Knuth said.
