Qld man acquitted of neighbour's death

A man who fatally punched his Brisbane neighbour during a dispute over loud music has been found not guilty of manslaughter.

Phillip Pama and his family wept as a Supreme Court jury acquitted him on Thursday of killing 55-year-old Leon Yeaman in April 2015.

The trial had heard Mr Pama went to his neighbour's Taigum house about 10pm to tell him to turn down his radio because he had work at 3am.

Prosecutor Danny Boyle said the pair could be heard arguing from two streets away and Mr Pama claimed Mr Yeaman started ranting about police and the government.

"He's always doing this type of thing." Mr Pama told police at the time.

"He kept yelling so I tried to take him to the (police) station. He was coming but then he pushed me."

It was then Mr Pama punched Mr Yeaman in the right side of the head, causing him to fall.

"I just got to that point, like I'd had enough of it," he said.

Mr Pama tried to help Mr Yeaman by putting an ice pack on his head but he died within minutes from a bleed in his brain.

The court heard Mr Yeaman had a blood alcohol content of 0.14 and was witnessed slurring his words that night.

It took the jury just over two hours to reach its verdict after listening to four days of evidence.

Outside court, Mr Pama said the outcome was a "massive relief" for him and his family.

He also extended his heartfelt condolences to Mr Yeaman's family and friends.

Solicitor Bruce Peters said the tragic events would forever be a sad part of the Pama family history.

"(Mr Pama) is now looking forward to returning to home life and to his private pursuits outside of the public view," Mr Peters said.
