A jury has retired to consider whether a southeast Queensland man accused of trying to kill his ex girlfriend's new partner is guilty of attempted murder.

Robert Kingsley Corowa, 34, is accused of shooting Marko Marjanovic outside a Gold Coast home in 2011 but has pleaded not guilty.

The Brisbane Supreme Court jury retired just before midday on Thursday to decide if Corowa is guilty of one count of attempted murder and a second of acts intended to maim, disfigure or disable.
