Island hotel fire cause still unknown

A fire is still burning in bushland on a north Queensland island four days after it destroyed an abandoned hotel.

At least 12 buildings - including the main resort and a number of bungalows - at the decaying Hinchinbrook Island Wilderness Lodge were gutted when the blaze broke out on Friday morning.

Police are investigating the cause as rangers continue to monitor the fire, which is expected to burn for the next two days.
