It is understood the driver was coming down River Run Court and didn't see the pair.

Little Eiaana was strapped inside her pram before she was thrown upon impact.

She celebrates her first birthday tomorrow.

Her father Nischay Choudhary said the two were recovering.

"I just got a call from my mother, she called me and she was crying really bad on the call and she said like someone hit her while she was crossing the road," he said.

"The car literally hit her on her leg and because of that impact, the knee came out and the knee is broken right now, she's in the hospital.

"My daughter fell off from the pram and she literally banged her head and scratched her forehead and cheeks, there's so many scratches.

"She's doing OK right now."

The driver, a 26-year-old Ormeau Hills, remained on scene and was assisting police.

The investigation is ongoing.
