Bikies distributed ice across Aust: police

Two bikie gangs worked together to run a massive syndicate distributing the drug ice across the country, police allege.

Detectives believe they have dismantled the trafficking ring after dawn raids on gang properties across southeast Queensland led to the arrest of 15 alleged members of the Nomads and Comancheros.

The raids netted three kilograms of ice, 100,000 ecstasy tablets, $60,000 in cash and sawn-off rifles.

Another 2kg of ice was seized on Monday night when police intercepted a car, believed to be travelling from interstate, on the Gold Coast.

The raids signal the end of a 12-month operation, which also uncovered 21kg of ice in Western Australia last month.

All up, $18 million worth of the dangerous drug has been seized.

"To put that into perspective, that's 240,000 hits taken off the streets in Australia," the anti-bikie task force's Detective Acting Superintendent Brendan Smith said.

Police believe the drug syndicate had been operating out of Goodna, west of Brisbane, and was moving drugs to and from Queensland.

Det Acting Supt Smith said police intelligence suggested the drugs were also moved between states other than Western Australia.

Investigators are not sure where the ice was manufactured but say it is of high quality.

The 15 alleged bikies are facing a total of 60 charges.

Det Acting Supt Smith said the operation proved bikies are willing to put their differences aside to make a buck.

"It shows they are facilitating their networks to facilitate crime," he said.
