* A sprinkler system fault within the Qantas hangar releases 22,000 litres of firefighting foam

* Qantas' fire system fails

* The walls designed to catch the foam once it's released fails

* A pump designed to move those chemicals back into tanks fails

* The toxic foam, believed to contain perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) leaks into the Brisbane River

* Department of Environment and Heritage officers take samples from the water
