Homicide squad appeals for mystery Crime Stoppers caller to come forward over 2010 suspected murder

Homicide investigators believe missing Queensland man Michael Leslie Devitt may have been murdered and are appealing for a person who called Crime Stoppers in 2011 to come forward again.

Mr Devit was last sighted in Proserpine in late January, 2010. It is believed he was involved at an incident at the Grand Central Hotel on Main Street before disappearing.

“We are appealing to the public for anyone with any knowledge of Michael Devitt’s involvement in an incident in the vicinity of the Grand Central Hotel in Main Street, Proserpine or regarding his disappearance to please contact police or Crime Stoppers,” Detective Inspector Damien Hansen of the Homicide Investigation Unit said.

“We also know a person contacted Crime Stoppers and the National Missing Persons Unit in August 2011 and we would be very keen to speak again with that person as their information would be very helpful to our investigation.”

Mr Devitt is approximately 175cm tall, with a proportionate build, brown hair and blue eyes. His disappearance is considered out of character.
