Grantham flood accounts crucial

Eyewitness accounts from Grantham residents who saw a deadly wall of water rush through their town in 2011 will be crucial to the latest flood inquiry, chairman Walter Sofronoff says.

Residents sought a new inquiry into what caused the Lockyer Valley floods, which killed 12 people, after they were not asked to give evidence during the 2012 Queensland Floods Commission of Inquiry.

Mr Sofronoff told the ABC on Tuesday their accounts will be given sufficient weight during the new inquiry and will help give context to expert hydrology reports.
