Man charged over Qld train bomb scare

A man has been charged over a bomb scare at a Gold Coast train station which forced the evacuation of staff and passengers early on Tuesday.
The 41-year-old man has been charged with making a bomb hoax and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Police say they were called to the Helensvale station about 7am after receiving reports of a man acting suspiciously on the train.

The man was detained on the platform where he is alleged to have claimed he had a bomb.
The station was evacuated and train services were suspended in both directions before it was declared safe about 8am after the bomb squad searched the area.
