Gold Coast election probed by CCC

The Electoral Commission of Queensland is investigating this year's Gold Coast City Council election over donations to some candidates.

The ECQ have also referred the matter to the Crime and Corruption Commission which is assisting with the investigation following a complaint from the Department of Local Government, Infrastructure and Planning.

"The Commission is committed to ensuring all participants in a local government election have abided by all obligations as established under the Local Government Electoral Act 2011," the ECQ said in a statement on Tuesday.
