Qld ex-bikies are changed men: court

They were once heavyweights in one of Queensland's most feared bikie gangs.

Now, two of the Bandidos ringleaders behind a notorious Gold Coast street brawl have traded their criminal ways for the family life.

At least, that's what their lawyers say.

Lawyers for Bandidos' Gold Coast chapter ex-president Adam White and former patched member Jacques Teamo have appealed to a Brisbane magistrate for leniency, saying their clients are changed men.

Teamo instigated the 2013 turf battle while White was front and centre in the violence that spilled onto the street at Broadbeach.

Both pleaded guilty to riot, and in White's case threatening violence, before Wednesday's sentencing hearing for nine men involved in the punch-up.

White's lawyer Sam Di Carlo said the powerfully built ex-bikie had cut ties with the gang and said his idea of fun was now sitting at home with his girlfriend and daughter watching a DVD.

"He realised the negative nature of those relationships; he's made a conscious decision to leave them and never go back," Mr Di Carlo said.

"He's found a new way."

Likewise, Teamo's lawyer, Alistair McDougall, said his heavily-tattooed client severed links with the Bandidos immediately after the brawl and now lived a quiet existence looking after his two sons.

Prosecutor Jeff Hunter QC was sceptical and warned Magistrate Michael Quinn that Teamo had previously given a "self-serving and false" account of his role in a shopping centre shooting.

Magistrate Quinn deferred, until August 14, passing sentence on both men and seven others who faced the court on Wednesday.

They include Brett Pechey, Ahmed Kaddour, Luke Dyer, Duncan Rattenbury, Ryan Mercer, Daniel Santa-Maria, and Sanjin Delilac.

Eleven more former Bandidos or associates are due to face court over the next two days.
