Gas leak sparks evacuation in Brisbane

Workers have been evacuated from a business in Brisbane's inner-city after more than 7000 cubic metres of hydrogen gas leaked from a cylinder, emergency services say.

About 100 employees of GrainCorp Liquid Feeds in Murarrie were evacuated after the leak was discovered in the cylinder, which can contain 8000 cubic metres when full.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman told AAP crews now conducting atmospheric testing at the site believed 90 per cent of the hydrogen had leaked out by 1.30pm (AEST), with a 250m exclusion zone still in force.
