Boy who died in Qld fire laid to rest

A toddler who died on his second birthday when a fire engulfed his family home south of Brisbane has been farewelled with loving words and white balloons.

Mourners packed the Citipointe Church at Carindale for the funeral of little Roman Campbell, which ended with the release of dozens of white balloons in memory of a life cut tragically short.

Parents Jaryd Campbell and Belinda Warwick were supported by family, friends and members of the public as they farewelled their "beautiful boy" in the emotional service on Saturday.

Roman died in his cot when flames tore through his family's Beenleigh home on May 14.

Ms Warwick was unable to reach him, but managed to get four children out of the house.

Mr Campbell, who was picking up another child when the fire broke out, desperately tried to save Roman, crying "my baby" as he was held back from the inferno by police and firefighters.

The tragedy has touched the community, which has raised almost $100,000 for the family who also lost all of their possessions in the fire.
