New bail breach charges for Qld lawyer

A Brisbane criminal lawyer accused of ripping off legal aid has again been charged with breaching his bail.

Adam Magill, who is fighting fraud and money laundering allegations, was charged on Tuesday with four counts of breaching bail by the Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission.

He is accused of contacting two people from a list of individuals off limits to him under the terms of his release.

It is alleged Magill had contact with or tried to reach Kwan Leigh Fong between March 29 and April 1 and then between June 28 and July 6 at an Ann Street address in Fortitude Valley.

It is further alleged he contacted Lam Quoc Ta between March 29 and April 1 at the same address.

Magill was fined $1200 in June for a previous breach of bail which involved him last year calling a legal colleague on his no-contact list who, at the time, was in the company of a Crime and Corruption Commission detective.

He will spend a second night in the Brisbane watchhouse after a Brisbane Magistrates Court hearing on Wednesday was adjourned.

Magill will again seek bail at a Thursday hearing, where it is expected a prosecutor will try to block his application to be re-released.
