Fraser Coast Mayor charged with computer hacking

A Queensland Mayor has been arrested and charged with official misconduct and computer hacking following an investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).

Fraser Coast Regional Council Mayor Chris Loft was arrested this afternoon.

The CCC alleges the offences occurred while he was Mayor.

The charges include one charge of computer hacking, one of disclosure of official secrets and two of misconduct in relation to public office.

Mr Loft is expected to appear in court in January.

He was elected into the position last year.
