A former federal police officer and a Commonwealth prosecutor are among Queensland's newest magistrates.

Lawyers Melanie Ho, Nerida Wilson and Peter Delibaltas were sworn in to the Queensland Magistrates Court in Brisbane on Thursday.

Ms Wilson previously served with the Australian Federal Police before working as a solicitor. She has practised at the private bar in Cairns since 2008.

Ms Ho has worked as a senior prosecutor with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, while Mr Delibaltas has been the Director of Criminal Law Services at Legal Aid Queensland since 2010.

Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath said the trio would bring a broad range of skills from their long-standing careers.

"Fairness, a tireless work ethic and strong experience in the law makes each of these individuals more than qualified for their new roles," she said.
