Forde too close to call, says LNP

The LNP's Bert van Manen is refusing to speculate on whether he can retain his southern Brisbane seat of Forde as his Labor opponent holds onto the tightest of leads.

With almost 79 per cent of the vote counted, the ALP's Des Hardman has a 149 vote lead over Mr van Manen in the electorate that cut short former Queensland Premier Peter Beattie's attempted political comeback in 2013.

"Postal votes will be counted from Tuesday and at this stage I will not be commenting until we have a clear result," Mr van Manen said in a statement.
