Man charged over Brisbane fire

A man will face court charged over a fire that severely damaged a unit in Brisbane's south.

Emergency services were called to a property in Robertson, about 2.30am on Thursday after reports of a disturbance.

It's alleged the man assaulted a 37-year-old woman at the property and caused a large amount of damage, causing the woman to flee along with a child and another woman.

Police believe the man then set fire to the unit and left.

The woman was taken to hospital with facial injuries.

Officers arrested a 45-year-old Robertson man who is due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday charged with arson and assault occasioning bodily harm.
