Fire contained at Brisbane's XXXX brewery

A fire has been contained at the iconic XXXX brewery in inner Brisbane, after sending plumes of thick black smoke into the dusk sky.

Firefighters were greeted with the billowing smoke at the Milton brewery after a fire alarm on the ground floor went off about 5pm on Tuesday.

The building was evacuated without anyone being injured.

Fire crews contained the fire shortly after 6pm but traffic around the brewery remained affected, with diversions in place on busy Milton Rd and surrounding streets.
