Fed govt must fund Cowboys' stadium: Qld
AAP
The Queensland government has joined calls for federal funding for a new Townsville stadium after the Cowboys' dramatic NRL grand final win.
Treasurer Curtis Pitt says the business case for a new stadium and precinct will only be finalised next week, and he wants Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to support the $300 million project.
"We hope that he doesn't break the hearts of Cowboys fans and Townsville people the same way that the Cowboys broke the hearts of Broncos supporters in the weekend," he said.
