Father and sons found after 11 days missing in outback

A Queensland dad and his two sons have been found alive and well after going missing for 11 days in the outback.

A farmer found Steven Van Lonkhuyzen, 37, and his sons Ethan, seven, and Timothy, five, in Expedition National Park near Taroom in central western Queensland with the family’s car bogged up to the doors, the Courier Mail reports.

The farmer had seen them drive into the park sometime in the past week and thought nothing more of it, until seeing media reports of the missing family, a police spokesperson said.

He went to look for them in the park and saw them bogged up to their doors in the car.

The three are reportedly in good condition, but a bit hungry.

The family was last seen at a service station in Miles on December 11.

The trio were making an inland drive from their home in Brisbane's far east.

Their disappearance sparked extensive searches throughout the south-western outback region of Queensland.
