The Queensland government has promised "extensive community consultation" about a new Gold Coast casino plan, but the opposition is demanding more details.

It comes after reports plans for a $3 billion development next to the Sea World site are progressing, with James Packer's Crown Resorts and ASF Consortium understood to be involved in the project.

Asked if the development was a forgone conclusion, Minister for Child Safety Shannon Fentiman said: "No. There will be absolutely be continued engagement with the community on the integrated resort."

The opposition's Scott Emerson said there were no details in the plan about the number of machines or tables.

"Now what we see is some talk, but little more than that," he said on Sunday.

"We don't really know what Labor are doing on this."
