A Queensland beach is open again after it was closed off when a potentially explosive object washed up on the sand.

A 150 metre exclusion zone was set up at Teewah Beach, north of the Sunshine Coast, after the object, believed to be marine marker, was spotted on Tuesday morning.

Police say explosive experts have removed the object and the beach has safely reopened.
