Former Newman government MP Jack Dempsey is set to become Bundaberg's mayor.
More than 12 months after being voted out of state parliament, Mr Dempsey has a massive lead in the mayoral race.
He has 70.53 per cent of the vote compared to his nearest opponent's 13.85 per cent, with 35 out of 135 polling booths counted.
