Elderly Qld woman on scooter hit by car

An elderly woman on a mobility scooter has been hit by a car on the Gold Coast.

The 89-year-old was crossing a pedestrian crossing near a Helensvale shopping centre on Tuesday afternoon when she was struck.

She suffered serious injuries and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police are investigating the incident and have urged witnesses to come forward.
